nabs punks award show to raise awareness about mental health

There were plenty of surprises at last night’s Advertising and Design Club awards in Toronto – but perhaps none as surprising as the acceptance speech for Experiential Design Single by Mindworks. 

When the winner took the stage he shared a candid story about the mental health struggles he experienced while producing the award-winning work. By the end of the speech it was revealed that the win was a stunt to draw attention to industry association nabs, which provides mental health, health and wellness, career counselling and financial support to communications professionals.  

The work was fake, the category was fake but the stunt brings attention to a very real challenge of supporting the health, well-being and development of individuals in the media, marketing, production and communications industry throughout their career.
