Vachon pranks the biggest Croquettes fans
A social media campaign delights Quebecers with the return of Vachon’s iconic Croquettes snack cakes.
For those who keep up with Vachon’s social media, there’s one comment that pops up more than any other: “Bring back Croquettes!” Fans spoke, and Vachon listened. The brand decided to relaunch this iconic cream-filled vanilla cake and amplify its return with a social media stunt developed by Cossette.
Announced with great fanfare on March 23, the campaign consists of engaging content with a humorous tone posted on social media to pique customers’ curiosity. It includes several pieces, including a prank video for fans featuring the brand’s biggest enthusiasts.
Cossette and Vachon planned a special surprise for four superfans, who were invited to what they believed to be a market study interview. Hosted by actress Corinne Fortin, who’s also an improv star at the Ligue nationale d’improvisation (National Improv League), the activity wasn’t at all what they expected. The whole thing was filmed with a hidden camera, and the participants were prompted to talk about how much they adore Croquettes. To their great surprise, they were the very first to learn about the return of the snack cakes.
