For this year’s Bye Bye, Metro decided to bring a smile to viewers’ faces by calling on a beloved Quebec celebrity who’s known for his kooky and colourful malapropisms: Jean Perron.
This former hockey coach and famous sports commentator was the perfect person to help the brand build on the creative concept for its holiday campaign, which was filled with different homegrown expressions related to food.
Using a tone just as warm and playful than in the last ad, the spot features the same characters and settings in a new montage of cute holiday moments that everyone can relate to. Jean Perron joins the cast in bringing to light many more popular idioms related to food and eating—with a few “Perronisms” also making the cut.
Bye Bye is appointment viewing at the end of the year for Quebecers. There was no doubt that we needed to be part of it again this year so we could wish a happy 2023 to the entire province by delivering a funny message reminding everyone that when you get right down to it, food is life.
