The Great Big Mac® Debate is Back
by
Cossette
The Big Mac Bacon is back — and in a sequel to 2017’s award-winning Big Mac Bacon campaign by Cossette, so is the great debate. Is a Big Mac with Bacon still a Big Mac?
The original debaters are back and this time, the crew buddies featured in the QSR’s popular 2019’s recruitment campaign are also getting in on the action. Creating a sequel to a campaign, which racked up several industry awards and was picked up by McDonald’s globally, is a rare move – one that speaks to how much the debate still resonates with Canadian consumers.
People can weigh in online using the hashtag #stillabigmac or #notabigmac.
The Big Mac is a much-loved classic – and Canadians also really love their bacon. When you put the two together, people are going to have strong opinions. That’s why the debate is still going strong two years later.
Jon Frier, Group Creative Director at Cossette
The campaign will run nationally on TV, radio, OOH, digital and social channels until January 27th. Since launching on January 2, there have been 5200 mentions about the debate on social.
The Big Mac Bacon was a hugely popular limited time offer in Canada, making it an easy decision to bring it back. Canadians know what makes an iconic Big Mac – two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame-seed bun – and we love seeing guests engage in the debate our ads have sparked. The passion Canadians have for the Big Mac is undeniable and we invite our guests to continue the conversation, and share their stance.
