Egale Canada reveals dementia injustices faced by 2SLGBTQI people
Work
For Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, Egale—Canada’s leading organization for 2SLGBTQI people and issues—recently launched the Help Us Remain campaign, shedding light on the hidden challenges faced by 2SLGBTQI communities in the area of dementia care.
Intended to bring together Canadians to confront this community issue, the campaign unveils untold stories of 2SLGBTQI people throughout Canada who are living with or have a connection to dementia. Content includes a research report and immersive gallery, along with an evocative short film, Help Us Remain.
In partnership with Cossette and Citizen Relations, Egale Canada created GALLERY OF MEMORIES: What’s at Stake for 2SLGBTQI People Living with Dementia and showcased it to the public in January 2024. This immersive gallery experience explores personal images paired with powerful memories from members of 2SLGBTQI communities that demonstrate the importance of queer memories and illuminate the concerns around dementia and cognitive decline.
