McDonald’s Canada paints the town gold at the Calgary Stampede with mural artistry celebrating Canadian farmers
Work
For this year’s Stampede, we’ve collaborated with McDonald’s Canada to illuminate Calgary with an eye-catching series of hand-painted murals. These artworks are a vivid homage to the nearly 50,000 Canadian farmers and ranchers whose hard work and dedication make McDonald’s menu possible.
Imagine the excitement of the Calgary Stampede — The Greatest Show on Earth – a historic celebration of local agriculture. Now, picture that spectacular scene against the stunning murals created by the talented artist Jess Franks.
These hand-painted pieces bring a creative twist to the classic Western scene of riding into the sunset. At their heart is the mounted rancher, a symbol of tireless Canadian farming. In this campaign, ranchers aren’t just fading into the night; they’re galloping toward the radiant glow of McDonald’s iconic golden arches, beautifully integrated into Calgary’s picturesque landscape.
The Stampede buzz doesn’t stop with murals. We’re taking McDonald’s Canada commitment to authenticity and Canadian agriculture to the next level with additional advertising. Highlighting 100% Canadian beef and the return of the Western BBQ Quarter Pounder, this integrated campaign handled by OMD includes digital, OOH displays and radio.
Catch all three Riding into the Golden Arches murals across Calgary streets in out-of-home displays throughout the duration of Stampede, from July 1 to July 14, 2024.
